There are 30 National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) lookouts around the British coast. These maintain a visual and listening watch on VHF channel 16 during daylight hours. Some are equipped with radar, and in an emergency will communicate with the appropriate Coastguard station. For more information visit the NCI website: www.nci.org.uk
